An Evening Ritual for Deep, Restorative Sleep

Sleep is not a luxury — it's the foundation your body uses to repair, integrate, and restore your energy. Yet most of us tumble into bed still buzzing from the day, then wonder why our minds won't settle.
Begin one hour before bed. Dim the overhead lights and switch to a single warm lamp or candle. Light triggers cortisol; softening the room softens your system.
Place three drops of lavender essential oil on your wrists and inhale slowly. Lavender has been shown to reduce sympathetic nervous system activity within minutes.
Brew a cup of caffeine-free herbal tea — chamomile, tulsi, or lemon balm — and sip it slowly while you stretch or journal three sentences about your day.
Finally, lie down and breathe in for 4 counts, hold for 7, exhale for 8. Repeat four times. This is your invitation to rest.
