Wildcrafted Dr. Sebi gold sea moss with key limes and sea moss gel in a glass jar

Why Dr. Sebi recommended sea moss

Dr. Sebi (Alfredo Bowman, 1933–2016) taught that disease cannot exist in an alkaline, mineral-rich body. He often said sea moss alone contains 92 of the 102 minerals the human body is made of — iodine for the thyroid, potassium for the heart, magnesium for the nervous system, sulfur for the skin, and natural mucilage that soothes the gut lining.

But he was specific: it had to be wildcrafted — harvested from the open ocean, not farmed in still saltwater pools fed with table salt and fertilizer. That distinction is everything. Pool-grown sea moss looks similar in a smoothie. It is dramatically lower in the minerals that made sea moss famous.

How to take Dr. Sebi sea moss

  1. Start with 1 tablespoon of gel per day in your morning smoothie or stirred into warm (not boiling) tea.
  2. Work up to 2 tablespoons daily after a week. More is not better — sea moss is high in iodine.
  3. Store in a glass jar in the fridge for up to 3 weeks, or freeze in ice-cube trays for 3 months.
  4. Pair with spring water — Dr. Sebi was specific: spring water, never tap or distilled.

Educational only — not medical advice. Speak with a practitioner before starting a new protocol, especially if you have a thyroid condition or take medication.

Frequently asked questions

What is Dr. Sebi sea moss?+

Dr. Sebi sea moss refers to wildcrafted Chondrus crispus and Genus Gracilaria harvested from the mineral-rich Atlantic — the two species the late herbalist Dr. Sebi (Alfredo Bowman) specifically recommended for their density of trace minerals.

Is your sea moss wildcrafted or pool-grown?+

100% wildcrafted. Our sea moss is harvested by small-scale fishers in St. Lucia and Jamaica from open Atlantic waters — never grown in still saltwater pools or fed with table salt and fertilizer.

How do I take Dr. Sebi sea moss?+

Most people take 1–2 tablespoons of sea moss gel daily — stirred into smoothies, oatmeal, warm (not boiling) tea, or taken straight off the spoon. Capsules: follow the dose on the label, typically 1–2 with water in the morning.

What's the difference between gold and purple sea moss?+

Gold (sometimes called yellow) sea moss is the most common wildcrafted variety — high in iodine, potassium and sulfur. Purple sea moss contains additional anthocyanins (the same antioxidants in blueberries) and is often preferred for skin and immune support.

Do you ship across the US?+
