What "alkaline" actually means
Dr. Sebi taught that disease can't take hold in a body that's mineral-rich and slightly alkaline. He called certain plants electric foods — non-hybridized, mineral-dense, often wildcrafted, traditionally used for thousands of years across the Caribbean, West Africa and the American South.
Modern science talks about it differently — calling them adaptogens, bitters, or mineral tonics — but the herbs are the same: burdock for the blood, sarsaparilla for iron, soursop for calm, nettle for minerals, sea moss and bladderwrack for the thyroid.
Featured alkaline herbs
Burdock Root

Caribbean alkaline leaf often steeped as a calming evening tea for sleep and nervous-system support.

How to build a daily alkaline-herb practice
- Start with one herb at a time. Brew it as tea every morning for a week so you know how your body responds.
- Use spring water. Avoid tap water and distilled water for brewing — minerals matter.
- Build a 3–4 herb blend once you know what works: one mineral herb (nettle), one blood herb (burdock), one calming herb (soursop).
- Cycle the strong herbs. Chaparral, sarsaparilla and burdock are best used 2–3 weeks on, 1 week off.

Frequently asked questions
What are alkaline herbs?+
Alkaline herbs are plants Dr. Sebi (and the broader natural-living community) classified as electric or alkaline-forming in the body — supporting an internal pH environment where, in his teaching, disease cannot thrive. They are wildcrafted or organic, never hybridized, and typically used as teas, tonics or capsules.
Which alkaline herbs did Dr. Sebi recommend most?+
He frequently named burdock root, sarsaparilla, sea moss, bladderwrack, soursop leaf, yellow dock, nettle, dandelion and chaparral. Each plays a different role — mineral replenishment, blood support, lymphatic drainage or nervous-system calming.
How do I take alkaline herbs?+
Most are taken as a tea (1 tsp dried herb steeped in spring water for 10–15 minutes) or as a tincture. Some, like sea moss, are taken as a gel. Start with one herb at a time so you can feel its effect, then build a personalized blend.
Are your herbs wildcrafted?+
All herbs in this collection are either wildcrafted or certified organic, sourced from small-scale growers and harvesters. We list the country of origin on every product page.
Do alkaline herbs replace medical treatment?+
No. Alkaline herbs are food and traditional plant-medicine for supporting daily wellness — not a substitute for medical care. Always speak with a qualified practitioner before starting any new protocol, especially if you take medication or manage a chronic condition.
